The City of Port Alberni is embarking on a comprehensive Master Planning process that will guide the future of its essential infrastructure, services, and programs. These plans will shape how Port Alberni grows and adapts over the next several decades. With transportation, utilities, emergency services, recreation, environmental stewardship, and climate action all considered together, this approach ensures that planning is coordinated, efficient, and future-focused.

To support this multi-layered, highly coordinated effort, the City has retained Uplift Engagement Communications (Uplift) to coordinate strategic communications and public engagement across the following plans:

• Parks, Recreation & Culture

• Fire Services

• Transportation

• Stormwater & Combined Sewer Overflow

• Watershed Protection

• Greenhouse Gas Management for City Infrastructure

• Wastewater

• Drinking Water

 

To ensure a transparent, inclusive, and effective planning process, we are working closely with city staff and external consultants to:

• develop clear and accessible project communications to keep the public informed.

• consolidate engagement efforts by designing opportunities that allow residents to provide feedback across multiple projects at once, reducing duplication and making participation easier.

• ensure key project updates and outcomes are effectively shared with the community.

• encourage participation and feedback

• track and analyze feedback to share with project teams to help inform the direction of the Master Plans.

 

Residents, businesses, and community organizations all play a vital role in shaping the future of Port Alberni. By providing multiple opportunities for input, we are working to ensure these Master Plans reflect the voices and priorities of the people who live, work, and play in the city.
