Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE) Strategic Communications & Implementation Plan
Project Summary
CITE is a District of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), an international membership association of transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. ITE promotes professional development and career advancement for its members, supports and encourages education, identifies necessary research, develops technical resources including standards and recommended practices, develops public awareness programs, and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information.
Uplift Co. was retained by CITE to develop a two-year Strategic Communications and Implementation Plan that aligned with the goals of the Board of Directors’ Strategic Plan 2020-2024.
Uplift Co. began by conducting research and membership engagement. Our team reviewed the current state of membership, Canada-wide District, Section, and Student Chapter communication and brand protocols. We prepared a comparative analysis of similar transportation organizations, strengths and weaknesses of various communication platforms and elements (e.g. tagline, mission statement, membership make-up, etc.).
Uplift Co. consolidated and analyzed all the research and feedback to produce a Strategic Communication Plan with clear direction and order-of-magnitude costs for implementation. We presented the Plan for Board approval and further prepared the Implementation Plan that outlined key strategies, actions, and a schedule for completion. The first action was renaming CITE to ITE Canada to better align with the organization’s international ‘ONE ITE’ initiative.
Uplift Co. is pleased to share that ITE Canada received the ITE International 2023 District Innovation Award for this Strategic Communications & Implementation Plan together with the subsequent Brand Strategy and Design, which was also completed by our team.
